Artifacts of Modern Love - Series of 12 5x7 Self Portraits,
This series sets out to explore the line between a self portrait and a narcissistic snap shot: what is the difference between the two?
It came about when visiting a friend to see photos from an overseas trip. While flicking through his iPhoto I came across a number of photos of himself, in lots of 5 every 20 photos or so. I started thinking about self portraits and the narcissists need to record themselves, and what is the difference between the two. With the rise of social networking sites like myspace and facebook, are we seeing a rise in narcissism or a rise in self portraits?
